Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate hours between two times? â–¼
Subtract the start time from the end time. For example, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM = 8 hours 30 minutes. If your shift crosses midnight (e.g. 10 PM to 6 AM), add 24 hours to the end time before subtracting. Our calculator handles this automatically.

In the US, federal law requires overtime pay (1.5× regular rate) for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Some states (California, Colorado) require daily overtime for hours over 8 per day. Use our Overtime Calculator tab to compute exact overtime pay.
What is a time card calculator? â–¼
A time card (or timesheet) calculator adds up all hours worked across a week, accounting for breaks, different start/end times each day, and overtime thresholds. It's used by employees and employers for payroll processing.
How do I convert decimal hours to hours and minutes? â–¼
Multiply the decimal part by 60. Example: 7.75 hours → 7 hours + (0.75 × 60) = 7 hours 45 minutes. Or use our Decimal Converter tab above for instant conversion.
